Dear Dog Owner:
Since 1985, we've offered thousands of clients in the GTA the best in family dog training. We are always updating our programs and have recently launched a new course especially designed for graduates of our puppy programs. We were voted "Best Dog Trainers" this year for the third time in York Region and in North York in 2005.
All Puppy People staff are highly trained and knowledgable about positive training techniques and problem solving. Based on solid knowledge of animal behaviour and training theory, our programs are motivational, effective and fun! We specialize in working with children and feel that dog training should be a "family event" so your dog will respond to everyone in the household. Our instructors have travelled world-wide to learn from the best animal behaviorists and trainers. They are dedicated to helping you build a wonderful relationship with your dog.

Scott Nygren, Instructor
Scott works primarily as a Dog Walker, Pet Sitter and Puppy Visitor (training). He's been working with his own dogs since 2001, when he and his wife adopted an American Eskimo Corgi mix named Fezzik. Currently he has 2 Icelandic Sheepdogs as well; Soley, who has a CKC Championship, Canine Good Neighbour, Rally-O N (and working on advanced) and is Temperament Tested, and Tindra who is currently working on her CKC Championship and also has her CGN. Scott also, as an amateur, helped two Icelandic's (Soley, and Tindra's father) to group 4ths in CKC conformation shows.
Scott continues to keep up to date whenever possible by continuing his education in dogs and dog training. He started as a dog walker in 2004, and established himself under the name Sundog Pet services in 2006. He has helped raise many little puppies since 2004 which gives him a practical knowledge and understanding of various temperaments of breeds and individual puppies. He has also helped raise two litters out of Soley as well.
In spring of 2006, he started his tutelage as an assistant instructor with Puppy People and became a full instructor in 2008. He has taken many courses to keep his knowledge up to date and continues to practice careful observation of human-dog and dog-dog interaction.
Kathy Reynolds, Instructor
Kathy received her B.A. from McMaster University and worked for many years as a Personnel Consultant before she decided to pursue her love of animals professionally. She had been voluntarily walking her neighbour’s dogs for many years when she decided to turn professional 3 years ago. About that time she joined Puppy People as an Assistant Trainer, having previously worked as an Assistant Trainer for the Swansea Dog Club.
She heartily endorses Puppy People’s positive training methods and is using this method to train her new dog - a Shepherd Collie Retriever mix named Marshall. Kathy adopted him from a rescue group last year and finds working through his reactivity issues has been a good learning experience for her. She is also expanding her training and behavioural knowledge by attending various seminars sponsored by such groups Professional Animal Behaviour Associates and Speaking of Dogs Rescue . As well she continues to learn through extensive reading of training/behaviour books such as Culture Clash; The Other End of the Leash; and How Dogs Think.
Currently Kathy volunteers with Speaking of Dogs Rescue group and with transporting shelter dogs from Quinte Humane society throughout southern Ontario.
